How to commit to ideas even when don't have much technical skill?
I’ve always admired how some people can commit to larger projects like a comic or animation, or generally just make tons of art regardless of how limited their technical skills are. Some are legit moving or have a very engaging sorta quality in them. Also enjoy when folks make really goofy or absurd things even when they have technical skills.
Comes to mind a source filmmaker animator wayyy back in the day that kinda gave the impression they weren’t skilled but could tell they did have legit animation and cinematic knowledge. Only let it show when it was extra funny to or wanted to hit the audience really hard with sudden legit emotion (I have no idea what they were called tho).
But I’ve never really been able to do that. Either get discouraged starting or midway, either idea doesn’t feel worth it or like I’m wasting time. When do make something sorta like that, feels either low effort or like a messy nothing burger. (sorta same for life in general)
I do enjoy creating, I know I especially enjoy studying and problem solving depending on the medium. And do get away with some doodles and full artwork which I’m mostly content with at least. And I have a 7 year fiction universe that I love just pouring stuff into with no plans to really ever finalize, sometimes takes bits and make them into art.
But would like to learn to enjoy creating more irl and lean to longer type projects n such, especially lean into the self expression aspect even if it’s more a character’s expression. But feels like there’s a huge mental block making it difficult to embrace any of that.
So I wonder how I could work towards just creating more? Especially art that feels more genuine?
