What should a returning player focus on in terms of weapons? Old mains or shooters?

i haven't played the game in a few years, mostly cause i rarely have time and feel outclassed by people.

but since im going to try again, i wanted to ask this question, simply put my old mains feel unfamiliar as dies general movment, i of course chalk that up to an ungodly amount of rust.

which is why i ask about weapons, shooters are the most basic guns but also is good for the basics unless it has a specific gimmick.

while relying on old mains has that familiarity but at the same time lost knowledge or changed stats can really throw you off.

right niw ik trying to go with an old main of sorella brella and wanting to improve at splatting people so i've been playing anarchy open.

use to just do turf war cause splatfests are just turf war but then i realized that if i get good at splatting then that will help in tuef war.

....anyway im unsure if i should proceed as planned, my current gear is

head: ink recovery, ink saver main X2, ink resist

shirt is splatfest Tee but i plan on putting ink saver main on that, idk about what else.

shoes: stealth jump, ink saver main and sub, ink recovery.

i completely forgot whats good with brella but this feels right.
