(18F) What should I do if I live with a very difficult neighbor?
Hi, I (18F) live in a shared 2-bedroom apartment in Germany. My boyfriend (19M) and I live in one room, and an older neighbor (around 60F) with her husband (around 60M) live in the other. We share one kitchen and one bathroom.
I’ve been living here for about a month, and the situation has been really difficult. The neighbor is very aggressive and acts like she owns the place. I’m honestly afraid of her.
After I accidentally reported something she did (I thought it had already been noticed during an inspection), she stopped talking to me and doesn’t greet me anymore. Since then, the atmosphere in the apartment has become very tense and uncomfortable.
She also takes over shared spaces, like the kitchen table, and doesn’t let me use things properly. We often argue, and she yells at me.
I tried to talk to her calmly and suggested that we discuss what bothers both of us and find a solution, but she refused and told me to “figure it out myself.”
I’m in Germany as a refugee, and I can’t easily move or change housing due to high demand.
I’m feeling stuck and don’t know what to do in this situation.
TL;DR: I (18F) live with a very aggressive neighbor who makes shared living very uncomfortable, refuses to communicate, and I can’t move out easily. I need advice on how to handle this situation.
