Aspirants please read

Lately ive been seeing many disappointed aspirants and scared juniors here. I remember going thru this exact same phase and wanted to offer my 2 cents (ive commented this in sone other post but wanted it to reach more ppl)

as a nid 1st yr myself, i feel like nid does not want a strong skill set. while having good skills is appreciated here, nid wants people who can think, who will make an impact, who want to learn new things. all the skills you need are going to be taught at nid, what they want you to bring to the table is your mind, attitude and creativity. thats what they will look for in your paper.

When i hear ppl say "ppl who gave basic answers got qualified" sometimes the most analytically and logically correct answer is the most basic answer. unnecessarily complicating stuff to sound creative isnt what nid wants. nor do they want hyper realistic or stylized drawings, no offence but take them to art schools, not here.

i think people need to do more research and reflection on the term 'design' and 'design thinking' while preparing for these exams. if you can foretell what the examiner wants to judge out of your answer, it becomes so much easier to give them what they want. Read more books, blogs, listen to podcasts, understand what design is. Look up people like Dieter Rams and Don Norman, understand their philosophies... read books like 'Big Magic' by Elizabeth Gilbert and 'Design of Everyday Things'.

i feel people really need to approach nid dat as a design exam, not as an art exam or skills exam...
