Elementary school birthday snacks.

In elementary school everyone would bring snacks to give to everyone in the classroom on their birthday. We would get out at noon and walk home for lunch and then walk back to school after lunch and return by 1:30pm. When returning to school I passed the candy store and bought 31 one penny candies. Enough for one for everyone on the class. When the teacher said it was time to distribute the candies. I walked to every desk and place one on each desk. Was this common in your school?
