What are you running for mixed media on a production storefront?

Question

Right now, images in S3 are served through Vercel Image Optimization. The cost is inconsistent and has been a major issue for us. Videos live in a separate bucket served directly. We don’t have a DAM layer. It is the usual setup where the content team emails devs when they need a new crop or a different size.

We’ve considered the following digital asset management software for video specifically.

Cloudinary handles both image and video, good API. But the pricing model is confusing and files go to their storage. We’re feeling that it may get expensive due to our image volume.

Mux appears to be an excellent for video, but it is not a DAM, which means that we would have to solve the image side separately.

Cloudflare Images appear to be good for images, but there’s no real video story beyond basic delivery.

Scaleflex seems to handle image and video under a single DAM plus CDN layer. Cloud-agnostic so files stay in S3. But video is basic transformation, not adaptive streaming.

Is choosing one tool for both issues actually the right architecture or is it better to serve image CDN and video delivery with separate tools?
