I earn well… but I look lost
I’m someone who has always been focused on building a stable life. I’ve cleared most of my accounting exams, and I’m currently working my first job. Alhamdulillah, I’m earning around 100K, which I know is a good start compared to many.
But here’s the part that’s been bothering me…
I look nothing like the life I’m building.
I’m average. Not in a poetic way, just… average. My skin is dry, my hair never sits right no matter how many times I try to fix it, and honestly, I don’t even know what suits me. Every time I comb my hair, it just goes back to being messy like it has a personal grudge against me.
When I look at people around me—especially those in similar fields—they carry themselves differently. There’s a sharpness to them. A presence. You can tell they’ve “figured something out.” And then there’s me… someone you’d never guess is doing well or working this hard.
It’s not just about looks. It’s deeper than that.
I don’t know how to carry myself. I don’t know how to build that presence, that personality, that quiet confidence. I feel like I’ve spent so much time working on my career that I completely ignored myself as a person.
Now I’m at a point where I want to grow, not just financially, but personally. I want to become someone who looks like he belongs in the room he walks into.
But I genuinely don’t know where to start.
How do I take care of my skin properly?
How do I find a hairstyle that actually suits me?
How do I choose the right barber?
How do I groom myself in a way that feels natural, not forced?
And most importantly… how do I build that presence?
If there’s someone older, more experienced, someone who has been through this phase and figured it out, I would genuinely appreciate your guidance.
I’m not looking for perfection. I just don’t want to feel lost in my own identity anymore.
