What is the current IN STOCK best method for removing cooking oil/meat fat stains?
I've done my research and looked at many of the past reccomendations, just to find out they've all been discontinued. Tis the nature of retail marketing: you have to keep alienating your customers.
I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to cooking oil stains. After years of trial and error and trying every retail product, I settled on spraying oil stains with mineral spirits and then 9% vinegar. And washing regularly with the Gain or Arm and Hammer flavors du jour. That worked 99% of the time when all other pre-treating with sprays and scrubbing with Dawn mega-ultra-platinum and other detergents failed me.
But now the "coronas' of the dissolved oil stains that the mineral spirits dissolved are not being lifted out by the 9% vinegar. Either the lighter fluid companies have quietly renegged on their low-emission treaties, or my regular detergent(s) are not helping the vinegar lift out out the oils entrapped in teh mineral spirtts.
So what detergent do I switch to now? I haven't washed a shirt in 3 weeks since it will just piss me off and be thrown banck in the dirty laundry with abn eveb bigger stain than previously. I've just taken to ordering those 6-packs of multi-colored pocketed T's from Amazon.
Which brings up another point: I don't have any problem getting out stains on dress shirts or most any kind of button-down, flannel, other shirts. They come out fine without any pre-treating.
It's only the cheap cotton T's.
