MIL/IL ick
If you experienced the MIL/IL ick postpartum how did you manage it?
My in-laws are really sweet and before pregnancy I actually enjoyed spending time with them. I knew once we had a baby they would be on my nerves just based on how they are with their other grandkids but I didn’t expect it to be so difficult to manage. They live in a different country and haven’t met my baby in person yet but are coming soon to visit for 2 months and I’m finding myself dreading it and feeling more annoyed with them every day. I know once they arrive they’re going to want to be all over the baby constantly and commenting on how we do things or wanting to insert theirselves to help. My husband is really good at dealing with them and being the one to communicate things to them but I’m worried about my own sanity and temper.
If you had the in-law ick how did you manage yourself around in-laws? How do you maintain a good relationship with in-laws who genuinely want to help but you have no interest in their help (because it looks a lot like taking on a third parent role)
