Is it normal that girls are always mean?

Life was fun back when I was a kid, I can talk to girls for long and can treat them as friends but a couple years ago, when I broke up with my first girlfriend, I start to find some girls cold in my campus so I transferred to a new place. The campus was different but the Girls are still cold and borderline to fully mean. From that point, the girl I talk to for long was probably my mother. I sometimes miss the fun times I had with my girl so please, I need help to be able to talk to girls even just as friends.
