Process

How does this work? Throughout the course of the week rankers are able to access an app that will allow them to rank teams. At the end of the period we calculate the average ranking for every team and collate all of the analysis provided by rankers.

The app then generates a post that is first proofread and then posted to r/hockey!

1 (1.5)Colorado Avalanche-50-16-102-2-0hockeycross says Presidents trophy here we go. Let’s go home ice all playoffs!
2 (2.73)Tampa Bay Lightning248-22-62-1-0No Lightning blurb this week, sorry.
3 (2.73)Carolina Hurricanes-149-22-63-1-0timmablimma says Ugly game against the Sens, but expected with a crappy back to back of 7pm game at home followed by travel and 5pm game in Ottawa. Ignoring that game, the team has overall looked better, and given that we probably have the hardest schedule left of any team, an easy way to not take off any games before the playoffs to hit the ground running.
4 (5.35)Montreal Canadiens245-22-103-1-0ryanwalts says Killer week. Dobes has been going nuclear and it’s masking a fair bit, but this team deserves it after how few of these games they’ve had all season. TBD on how it’ll hold up in the playoffs, but I’m psyched either way at the future of this team
5 (5.77)Dallas Stars045-20-121-2-0No Stars blurb this week, sorry.
6 (6.42)Buffalo Sabres-346-22-81-2-0dr3amweav3r says Sabres have looked like the worst team in the league since returning from their California trip. Go ahead and @ me but it's true. Regularly outworked in EVERY single game the last two weeks, and the goalies aren't bailing out their shitty play. I've seen more effort in senior beer league than in this fucking team lately. Not the kind of play you want to see heading into the last week before the playoffs. Wake the fuck up or you're going to get the broom in the first round.
7 (6.58)Minnesota Wild044-21-123-0-0paynetrain181999 says Now this is more like it! A perfect 3-0 week for the Wild, albeit with a nerve-wracking finish against the Red Wings. Kaprizov and Boldy continue to score goals, and Hughes continues to get assists. Also, shoutout to Hartman for a great week. Dallas might actually be catchable. Home ice in the first round would be nice, after all. Hopefully the team keeps this momentum up as the playoffs are right around the corner.
8 (8.96)Boston Bruins043-26-91-2-1maxpowr9 says Thankfully this horrible road trip is almost over. The problem is, if the Bruins make the playoffs, they'll be on the road for most of it. Arvi getting a hatty is nice but Geekie needs to find his scoring touch again, and um...not throwing sticks onto the ice. We're also back to taking really dumb penalties that are legit costing us games.
9 (10)Pittsburgh Penguins440-22-164-1-0melon-collie_ says Great week from the Penguins. Big wins when we needed them, and a closer game in Tampa than you'd think looking at the score. It no longer feels like this team is just hot, they kind of just look good right now. The offense is really moving, defensemen are really getting into the thick of it. EK65 is on another level right now. Looks like he wound back the clock 10 years, and it's having an effect on the whole team. We SHOULD be able to hold on to Metro 2, but I have no idea what's going on with Metro 3 right now.
10 (12.12)Ottawa Senators240-27-102-2-0driftshade11 says Definitely an uneven week, but that's kind of to be expected when you're fielding half an AHL defense corps. Huge to get Sanderson back, huge that we didn't get completely pasted. Not super thrilled about all the extra stuff going on around the team, I'd hope we can focus and get this team across the finish line.
11 (12.96)Edmonton Oilers439-29-92-1-0eatingasspatties says The Oilers are seeming to figure out the whole team defense thing, just in time for playoffs. A stinker against Vegas hurts, but without Draisaitl and Hyman it was pretty much expected. Seems like the "not winning the division" streak has a good chance of continuing this year, but getting healthy for playoffs is all that matters
12 (13.42)Utah Mammoth540-30-62-0-0oksoundtracks says After a humiliating week, the boys seem like they're finally turning a corner! 6 goals in 3 straight games is a great sign as we approach the end of the season, especially because our powerplay is finally gelling. Who could have figured that putting one of your best scores on the man advantage would be a good idea? Not to mention the Captain is back over a point per game, Guenther is close to 40 goals, and we're inches away from our first playoff berth! It's been a fun week and season. I can't wait to see how it ends. Tusks up!
13 (14.12)New York Islanders-442-31-50-4-0jeromeindahouse says That's all folks, just an absolute heartbreak end to a very enjoyable season
14 (14.12)Anaheim Ducks-441-31-50-3-1No Ducks blurb this week, sorry.
15 (15.23)Washington Capitals139-30-92-2-0dagetawayman421 says Well.... looks like it's the end of an era. Make sure you see Ovi for the last time over the next four games. Three road games and a homie against the Pens, one last Ovechkin vs Crosby matchup. It appears his finish against the team same team it started against, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Also shoutout to Charlie Lindgren for having some of the worst games of his career this season. Only four games where he gave up fewer than 3 goals and had an even worse season than Kuemper did in 23-24. Would've been nice if you didn't give up a goal in the first three minutes of a game which happened quite frequently this season. Jose Three-or-more, meet Char-three Lindgren
16 (15.81)Philadelphia Flyers239-26-122-2-0assassin2107 says Flyers are fucking back baby. Martone + Foerster back has our offense finally looking great again. And this team clearly has each others backs. I'm super hyped to watch Flyers vs Penguins in playoffs, only downside is that the Penguins can basically take penalties for free nearly since Flyers will never be able to punish them.
17 (16.27)Detroit Red Wings-339-29-81-3-0americanada98 says It is hard to describe how frustrating this season has become. Great hockey until the olympics with a short stint at first in the east, then a total collapse to the extent that they need to fight just for a chance at wild card 2. The worst part is that the urgency just doesn't seem to be there, culminating in even "clutch" guys like Patrick Kane making complete bonehead moves that cost us points.
18 (16.46)Columbus Blue Jackets-938-27-120-3-0steckums says Six losses in a row. The Jackets held a players only meeting after the loss to the Jets on Saturday. Every game is the most important game of the season and yet somehow after 6 losses in a row, the Jackets are still in the thick of things. I am not sure why we're having problems. We had a game recently where Bones said we had players playing too selfishly. After that, it's like nobody wants to take a shot. On Thursday in Carolina, the Jackets forwards account for TWO (2) of TEN (10) total shots. That is not the kind of performance you need in April.
19 (17.92)Vegas Golden Knights135-26-163-0-0bahamas_is_relevant says Believe the Tortaganda. A week ago, I was despondent over the coaching change; now, I'll acknowledge there may be a reason why I'm here on Reddit and McCrimmon is managing an NHL team. While there's still been some slow starts, the offense is suddenly looking re-energized, the defense isn't making quite as many flubs, and the goaltending's even been passable. Rasmus Andersson has looked like a completely different player than he was during his dreadful post-trade stretch, with four goals and six points in his last six games. Mitch Marner potted a hat trick against Calgary on the same night that the Leafs were eliminated, making for some divine comedy. And when some believed the new coach bump was simply due to playing two basement teams, Torts and the gang silenced the doubters on Saturday, snapping Edmonton's five-game win streak in a massively important divisional win while holding McJesus and co. to just a single goal. Suddenly, I'm not feeling so bad about this team's chances come the playoffs.
20 (18.85)New Jersey Devils-140-34-32-1-1silkeystev says I'm earnestly just surprised we aren't eliminated yet. Mathematically alive but dead on the inside since Christmas.... Sounds about right, already looking forward to next year
21 (20.77)Nashville Predators036-31-92-0-0No Preds blurb this week, maybe the mountains claimed him, sorry.
22 (22.65)San Jose Sharks435-32-73-1-0No Sharks blurb this week, sorry.
23 (24.08)Florida Panthers-137-37-32-2-0No Cats blurb this week, sorry.
24 (24.31)St. Louis Blues-133-31-122-1-1No Blues blurb this week, sorry.
25 (24.38)Winnipeg Jets333-31-122-1-0No Wings blurb this week, sorry.
26 (24.81)Los Angeles Kings131-26-192-0-1No Kings blurb this week, sorry.
27 (26.31)Seattle Kraken-332-32-110-3-0soupyhands says Lambert's post game comments seem to indicate that the guy closest to the team doesn't know what the problem is and can't motivate the group to get out of this tailspin. Kind of ridiculous to be talking about a 4th coach in 4 years but wouldn't be surprised to see a firing coming from this season. Jets, Wild, Knights, and Flames all coming up this week, so its possible that the Kraken sink even lower in the standings. They could be 31st this time next week.
28 (27.42)New York Rangers233-36-93-1-0nodessb says Well, it's getting closer to season's end and I, for one, am quite looking forward to the draft lottery. Playoffs too, but man I can't wait to see what young forward we'll get the opportunity to stunt the development of. I'm just kidding (kind of). I have been enjoying watching Sykora this week though, with 2G in 3GP for a pretty impressive start to his NHL career. I hope to see more good play from the young prospects since there are fewer than 10 games to go and it's a lost season anyways. LGR!
29 (27.46)Toronto Maple Leafs032-31-141-1-1lang14 says Lose more please. lang14 says Lose more please.
30 (27.46)Calgary Flames-232-36-81-2-0No Flames blurb this week, sorry.
31 (30.27)Chicago Blackhawks028-35-141-1-1sandman730 says The Blackhawks were officially eliminated from playoff contention. Anton Frondell changed his jersey number to 16 in honor of Marcus Kruger. Frondell and Sacha Boisvert scored their first NHL goals. Tyler Bertuzzi has scored a career-high 32 goals this season.
32 (31.85)Vancouver Canucks022-45-81-3-0joetothejack says The powerplay is popping off, Boeser has returned to form, Rossi is playing like a 1C. Things aren't all horrible here.

Ranking (avg)TeamDeltaOverall RecordRecord This WeekComments
1 (1.4)Boston Fleet-18-4-20-0-0x-tremememeteam says Boston is Boston. They can not be stopped. They will not be stopped. God help any who dare to face them.
2 (1.6)Montreal Victoire018-5-22-0-0firelark02 says Dubois is on a roll! It feels like the team has gotten into its own in the past two weeks ish. Everyone is doing really good, Abstreiter got a shutout. Curious to see how it'll turn out against the Fleet at TD Place x-tremememeteam says Montreal has a nice win streak going on right now. They are heating up before the playoffs and look VERY strong. odd-archer-1278 says UNSTOPPABLE! Esti de câlice de tabarnak on va l'avoir cette année ma bande de chiens sales!
3 (3)Minnesota Frost015-6-41-0-1x-tremememeteam says Minnesota is 3rd by virtue of losing recently and losing to Boston and Montreal but let me be clear the gap between 3 and 4 is waaaaaay wider than it is between 1 and 3. odd-archer-1278 says This team has the best offense in the league on paper, and yet is struggling against teams that should be easy pickings. They are not going for a three-peat at this rate.
4 (4.6)Toronto Sceptres110-10-51-0-0x-tremememeteam says Toronto controls their Destiny and with how Ottawa has played as of late they may be shoe-ins for the playoffs at this rate. odd-archer-1278 says Great win against Ottawa, now you just gotta do it again and again.
5 (5.4)New York Sirens210-12-32-0-0x-tremememeteam says New York has revived their season and are still very much in the playoffs race. After falling so far there is still hope.
6 (5.6)Ottawa Charge-213-11-10-2-0x-tremememeteam says Ottawa has chosen the WORST time to forget how to score. They had a chance to make their path to the playoffs easy...so of course they didn't do that. Still they at least control their destiny but their next two games feel like they are MUST WIN! odd-archer-1278 says Oof, losing against the Sceptres was the worst thing that could happen to them standings-wise, but at least they get two other goes?
7 (6.4)Vancouver Goldeneyes-18-13-40-2-0x-tremememeteam says Vancouver is not out of it yet but it does feel too little too late as they are 7 points out with 5 games left. Still they have looked alright-ish lately maybe getting hot down the stretch could save them...but to be honest it is probably better in the long term to just fight for draft position. odd-archer-1278 says Even if the score tells you a different story, they really could have won that one against Montreal, same thing against the meanies. They really are playing good hockey right now, if only that could translate itself into enough wins to make the playoffs...
8 (8)Seattle Torrent07-14-30-0-1soupyhands says 6 games left and the one question is how quick can the Torrent be eliminated from the playoffs so they can start earning points towards first pick in the draft. It could happen this week. x-tremememeteam says Seattle is Seattle. They can be stopped. They will be stopped. God help all who cheer them.
