Wrist pain lasting 2 semesters after taking a blacksmithing class.
Hello, I am 20 AFAB, 5’1” ~110 pounds.
I took an introductory blacksmithing class about a year ago, or two semesters ago. In that class you had to hit metal with a hammer for hours and I think it messed up my wrists. There is a way to do it properly but since this was an introductory class and I’d never done this before, I definitely was doing it wrong.
I have pain when applying pressure to my wrists (push-ups, opening doors with my palm, pushing my hands together) but no pain when flexing my hand.
I just want to know if there’s anything I can do myself or how this issue might be mitigated. I’m guessing the pain isn’t going to go away by itself since it’s been around a year already. It doesn’t interfere with my daily life, only in certain circumstances where I have to find workarounds such as pushing open doors with a fist rather than a flat palm.
Thank you so much for your help!
