Dropping the last nap
Is anyone in this nap time warp like me?
My son is 4, will be 5 in November. He doesn’t nap at home. At daycare, he usually will fall sleeps because he’s so tired from waking up early. They have to offer rest and he has to stay on his cot at daycare - but then he falls asleep.
I suspect chronic overtired. He wakes usually at 5am, then of course is tired enough for daycare nap at 1pm. Then falls asleep. We’ve asked them to cap that at 45 min but lately they’ve been letting him go 1 hr or 1 hr 15 min. Then at home, he is not asleep until 8pm.
What also throws a wrench in this is his strong desire to read with dad after his little brother goes to bed at 7:30pm. He wants special 1 on 1 time with dad when little brother goes down. Our routine is that dad reads to both of them at 7pm and then around 7;15pm he reads a book to the youngest in his room. Then I put youngest to bed. Then dad reads to the oldest and then I put the oldest to bed.
I feel like if the youngest bedtime was moved a little earlier I could move everything.
Anyway, I’m just at my wits end.
Anyone have advice?
