No you are not thinking that. Homes are really getting smaller.

If you look at projects, especially the ones that were built after 2020 and you compare them to older ones you can see the difference. What used to be a 2 bedroom house is now a small 2 bedroom house.

The main reason for this is that the price of land has gone up a lot in big cities. Builders want to make sure that the price of the house is still okay for people who want to buy one. Since they cannot lower the price they make the house smaller instead.

Builders are also designing projects in a way. They want to:

\* Put houses on the same piece of land

\* Add things like a clubhouse, gym and pool

\* Make the price look good on paper

So what do they do? They make the rooms inside the house smaller.

People have also noticed that the way the rooms are laid out has changed. Even if the house is not a lot smaller on paper it feels smaller inside. The bedrooms are smaller the living room is narrower and there is space to store things. Everything is more efficient. Sometimes that just means it feels crowded.

There is also a reason for this on the side of the people who are buying the houses:

\* More families are a mom, dad and kids

\* More people are buying a house for the time

\* People want to live in an area so they do not mind if the house is smaller

So builders know that people will accept a smaller house if it is in a good area.

That being said it is not all bad. Some new houses are better because they have airflow, natural light and are functional.. Overall if you are asking about the size of the house then yes. We are getting smaller houses for the same price or even more.

So it is not just that we are remembering the days and thinking that houses used to be bigger. Homes are really smaller. The market has changed to make us think that is normal.

Homes, like the ones we are talking about are smaller. The market, for homes has adjusted to make us feel like homes are normal.

Are homes really getting smaller in 2026. Are we just thinking that is what is happening?
