Windows 11 Folder Icon Reverting back to default
Hi everyone, I’ve been having a frustrating issue for a while now. Whenever I change my folder icons (specifically on the Desktop), they look fine during the session, but revert back to the default yellow folder icon as soon as I reboot.
Important Context:
I am not deleting or moving the .ico files. They stay in the same directory.
I used MyDockFinder (for the Mac looking Folders/Icons), and it also fails to keep some icons changed.
However, the issue persists even when I am manually changing them via Properties > Customize > Change Icon.
I’ve tried the basic "Apply" and "OK" steps, but Windows just won't let the changes stick after a restart.
Does anyone know a permanent fix for this? I’m especially looking for a solution for when I’m changing them manually through Windows, rather than through MyDockFinder. Any help with clearing the cache or fixing the registry would be appreciated!
