How do I make good friends (without opposite gender) and rebuild trust with my mum?

Support/Advice

Asalam alaikum

I don’t really know where to start. In grade 8, I felt outcasted because I was new to the school, and it was really hard on me. So in grade 9, I became desperate for friends. There was a non-Muslim guy who was new and didn’t know much about Muslims. At first, I rejected his attempts to be my friend, but he kept insisting, and eventually I gave in because I really wanted friends.

That friendship ended badly. After grade 9, since we moved to different schools, we kept messaging over the summer. He would ask and say inappropriate things. I didn’t want to respond, but I still tolerated it and sometimes even went along with it because I felt like I had to in order to keep the friendship. I feel really ashamed and disgusted with myself for how naive I was.

At the beginning of grade 10, I prayed Tahajjud asking for it to stop, and the next day my mom found the messages. I got in trouble, and since then I’ve felt a lot of shame and guilt, especially because I feel like I lost my mom’s trust.

Now I’m in grade 11, and recently, I became friends with a Muslim guy I’ve known since grade 8 who had always been kind to me and made me feel included in group projects when I had no one to work with.

But my mom found out I was talking to a guy again and doesn’t believe me when I say it’s different this time since he is a muslim and a good person- she even knows him because U would talk about him to her when I was in grade 8 about how nice he was. She assumes the worst and thinks I’m doing something wrong or even talking to the same guy from before because I had deleted the messages because they included personal things about my mean brother and my dad who doesn't give me much emotional attention and also spoke about how he had a bipolar relapse a few months ago but alhamduallah things are better now (and lately my dad has been more emotionally available for me), but that made me look more suspicious. its been 2 weeks since she found out and things are a bit better than when she found out, but I don't know it doesn't sit right with me because I feel like she'll tell my dad and he's veryyyy religious- I'm also practicing but I'm not perfect in this aspect which I really need to improve on. I haven't been talking to my friend since she found out (I told him she found out so he stopped messaging) and so now I feel kind of lonely because he was the only person I would message.

I don't know what I'm asking for but I guess I want advice to be a better person in that aspect overall I just need advice on how to make proper friends and not opposite gender friends and any other advice I guess. I know breaking someone's trust is hard to rebuild but I just feel terrible that I broke my mums trust...

(I used ai to kinda just summarize some parts because it was kind of long- sorry if it doesn't make much sense)
