Fell asleep while side-laying breastfeeding
I co-sleep with my 3-month-old, and last night I accidentally fell asleep while side-lying and feeding him at night. I was asleep for almost an hour. When I woke up, he was sleeping soundly on his side next to my boob, but it really scared me.
This hasn’t happened before. I usually follow the Safe Sleep 7 and always place him on his back once he’s asleep. He does like being on his side, but I only allow that during daytime naps when I’m fully awake and right beside him (reading or on my phone).
How can I make sure I don’t fall asleep like that again? Any tips or tricks?
How do you ensure you always stay awake while side-laying breastfeeding, or do you get up to feed in a chair each time at night?
Also, at what age (if ever) did you feel comfortable dozing off while your baby continued feeding or stayed latched in a side-lying position?
