spent 3 months trying to "fix" our outbound and somehow made it worse
ngl we fumbled bad for like 3 months straight trying to "fix" our outbound lol
thought we were being smart:
- hyper-personalizing every single email
- tracking literally every metric that existed
- running 10+ sequence variations at once
bro. none of it worked 💀
reply rates were ass, SDRs were spending half their day just researching before sending anything, and we had a mountain of data that told us absolutely nothing useful
turns out we were just cooked from overcomplicating everything
what actually moved the needle once we said f*** it and went back to basics:
1. slashed personalization by like 70% stopped trying to be witty and clever. just said the thing. clear > cute every time
2. stopped tracking everything, started tracking the right stuff ditched the open rate obsession. only cared about positive replies, meetings booked and how fast people responded
3. actually standardized what "good" looks like every rep was doing their own thing before this. once we got everyone on the same baseline it got way more consistent across the board
4. shorter feedback loops stopped waiting weeks to review stuff. few days max. huge difference
the wild part? things only got better once we stopped trying to optimize everything lmao. it's annoying that it took 3 months to figure that out
anywa, cutting stuff actually fixed it. who knew lol
