London to Bangkok

Considering two flight options to fly to bangkok from London.

China Eastern - 4th June LGW 11:35am - PVG Shanghai - 3hr connection - BKK Arrival 12:30pm 5th June - £420

EVA Air - 4th June LHT 9:35pm - BKK Arrival 3:30pm - £650 incl seat reservation fee. (£600 without)

I don’t know much about these airlines, what the likely hood of it being cancelled etc So i’m just looking for a bit of advice from people who have a better understanding, is it worth spending the extra money to go direct in this instance, especially in the current climate?
