~BRAKE + FAST = ??? - A symbol puzzle where each symbol is an instruction!

Each symbol modifies the word next to it. ~ does something to BRAKE and + means combine the result with FAST to get a common word.

Hint: >!~ = homophone!<

Answer: >!BREAKFAST!<

Bonus: EARTH# + GOLD  (same idea, different symbol).

Hint: >!# = rearrange all the letters!<

Answer: >!HEART OF GOLD!< (connecting words like "of" are implied)!
