Diagnosis dilemma

Discussion

I don't know how this works in other countries, but in my country (Romania) it seems to be so hard to get diagnosed with ocd, unless you are socially dysfunctional (unable to work/ socialize), or have obvious physical compulsions. The understanding of Pure O is very minimal and you often get diagnosed with anxiety. I ve been to 2 psychologists and one psychiatrist and they see it as anxiety with an obsessive compulsive component. I ve presented them my moral scrupulosity, my taboo themes, I ve specified that the rumination takes up hours, that I feel like it impacts my personal life and it s very sticky and illogical. The psychologists acknowledged the obsessive- compulsive nature of my brain mechanisms, but considered that I am too functional for the diagnosis and the psychiatrist was fixated on the fact that I don't have physical compulsions. I swear to God in other countries they would classify it as OCD and they would just figure out if it s mild/ moderate/ severe. But here it's common to just label it as anxiety with some weird/ I don't really know what they are obsessive- compulsive tendencies?? It s so weird and frustrating, I just feel like it's so hard to find people that are specialized in mental compulsions. Have you experienced something like that too?
