Why do American news shows use so much Australian news audio?
Aussie here 👋
I’m an occasional listener of daily American news podcasts like The Daily and Today explained, and I have noticed a trend where they play a lot of audio from Australian news broadcasts as part of their reporting. The Daily’s latest episode *Trump’s Lonely War* has two examples starting at around the 5 min mark. They’re just newsreaders describing the situation in the same way that I’m sure American newsreaders do. They use British and other countries broadcasts sometimes but the majority are Australian.
So any thoughts on why this may be? Is it an IP law thing? Do Australian voices sound more authoritative? It’s obviously a deliberate choice so what is it supposed to mean?
