Gay/Straight friendships

I’m a gay guy who has a close circle of straight friends. I had always been able to joke around with them, even play flirt and it not be an issue- we’ve been friends now for 20 years if not longer. One of these friends is my closest and one time I crossed the line in a text with him, and the next morning he was really upset but confronted me about it- I was so upset that I upset him, I apologised and just said over and over again how it would never happen again, and I meant it. That was a while ago (few years back) and I’m asking the straight guys; if that happened with you, would you be able to forgive and continue as normal or would you feel like you had to change your boundaries with that gay friend?
