Storm Bolt Str/Madness stackind Werebear Druid - the story of an off meta build with 700 total attributes

Build Showcase

This is a story just as much as it is a build showcase and build guide. I will keep the story elements in italic, so anyone who does not care about them can skip them.

How making my own build helped me overcome Last Epochs endgame flaws

I really enjoy Last Epoch but I always burnt out quickly through the lack of endgame content. Whenever I finished the build guide I was following, I tried to come up with something of my own and failed. This cycle I decided to start with something I theory crafted and stick to it from the start. There is so much variety now, it was a beautiful journey and it was much more fun than sticking to a guide. Part of the beauty is that I am going way off meta. I am using the least played class (Primalist) and a bunch of uniques no one really cares about. In MG, this offers the possibility to easily run a 4 LP (Pelarus Sacred Light). Another off meta unique I ran is Soul of the Mountain which I only replaced by a great Shattered Worlds today (Soul of the Mountain makes capping res and crit chance much, much easyer).

I love synergiesin a build, and boy did we end up getting a lot of these.

Build concept

This is a Storm bolt build that has been played before, but with a new touch. The basic setup is known: proc storm bolts via Rampaging without cooldown and via Maelstrom. Storm bolt scales with Gathering Storm skill tree. We also use Rules of the Simoon to procc Tornadoes which also proc Stormbolts (and Storm Orbs). This greatly helps with single target.

We are stacking Strength and Intelligence, converting the latter to Madness.

You can get both to 250 with Cleaver Solution. Pelarus Sacred Light is an incredibly strong item in this build. A level 6 unique item to carry a build.

We also use Legends Entwined with 2 full set bonusses (Last Bear and Abandoned Chitin of the Weaver) and a partial one (Jormun's).

The Bear set gives us +30 Strength and endurance threshold per strength.

Cleaver Solution matches that in terms of Intelligence.

We convert that to Madness. We do not care about Ward Retention and the additional Bonus damage from crits is easily bypassed via crit avoidance.

We use the new unique amulet Exulis for Madness and Guile. We have so much increased armour from strength that guile does not really hurt us.

6 points in the druid passive Natural Fortitude lets us scale health regen off strength, so we can easily get a lot of that. In the video I have 700 reg, if I take the blessing it is more than 1000 and you could do some really nasty stuff with a relic corruption to scale even more off strength and/or a flat health regen affix on the amulet. That could easily take us to 2000 regen, if we cared to go for it)

In the video I am sitting at 250 str, so Cleaver Solution gets us 250 spell crit multiplier.

Pelarus Sacred light gives us 125 flat spell damage off strength alone and is easily gotten as a 4 LP.

The new Abandoned Chitin of the Weaver ring gets us another full set bonus from Legends entwined and with a T5 set affix we get 0,5% of armour mitigation applies to DoT per 10 total attributes. I am sitting at 11k Armour and 700 total attributes, so that is 35%. There is also less DoT taken on the amulet, so we don’t really care about DoTs.

This build has a TON of defensive layers:

11000+ Armour

16% less damage taken from nearby enemies (Beastmaster passive Ursine Strength)

Almost permanent Aspect of the Boar uptime (another 15% less damage taken)

Insane amounts of DoT mitigation

Less damage taken from Shattered Worlds is another option

Lots of Endurance Threshold (I have 1700).

Lots of health regen. (I love this part because no one uses health regen in last epoch, but whoever played a build with defensive layers – especially mitigation – and high regen in PoE knows how strong this can be)

We slap on one affix from the new Jormun set on our belt for an easy 20% more multiplier (since we are dual wielding different weapon types)

Other notable stats

over 500 flat spell damage

~ 800 spell critical strike multiplier (this can be pushed above 1000 easily with corruptions if anyone cares to do so)

This is essentially proof of concept. You could push this build much, much further. It still isn’t as strong as the current meta stuff, but it is an incredibly tanky, fun, faced paced build with great clear and a super lazy playstyle that I have come to love. Single target is certainly the worst part.

The video above shows some casual gameplay at 400 corruption.
