2021 Ford escape titanium, 115000km automatic

I brought my car into the mechanic because my check engine light came on, but when i brought it there the mechanic took it for a drive and noticed that my turbo was lagging ( and I even noticed this myself so I know he isn't really bsing me on what is wrong with my car ) but he's trying to say that a new turbo with possibly new gaskets and what not is gonna cost me like 3k ?? is this right? im sorry for not including alot more information I'm just so stressed out and thought I would turn here for a possible answer that this is how much a new turbo and possible gaskets usually costs ?
