Question about a character during Act 3 [spoilers]

After rRenoir erases all of Aline's work, why is pAlicia still around with her Axon (from rRenoir)? I know Aline's painted family are relatively immortal, but without the Paintress in the canvas all of her chroma is nulled or so I believed from my grasp of the lore.

Is it because the only way to erase one of the painted family members is to physically touch them as Maelle does to pRenoir with rRenoir's assistance? Had Maelle not reentered the canvas, would Verso have simply revived (somewhere?) as well until rRenoir found him and erased him personally?

Apologies if this has been discussed at length here. I've tried several search strings and couldn't find appropriate discussion on these details. TIA!

PS, I'm running around trying to clear everything before going to face rRenoir again so also apologies if this is explained during the final leg of the journey. I'll probably head to him in the next couple days.
