Thinking of picking up the game

Is there anything in particular that I should prepare myself for? Mentally even?

It looks really interesting and I like the whole aesthetic. And it's got that bundle deal going on on steam too. Is it worth it to pick it up with all the dlcs? Or should I hold off for now...

How's the modding community? If I really do get into the game I'd love to have some vehicles and buildings from my home country.
