We deployed employee monitoring across 30 machines in our Indian IT firm here's what actually surprised us (not what you'd expect)
30-person IT services company, India, hybrid setup. Deployed EmpMonitor about 7 months ago. I'll be upfront I went in expecting to catch people slacking. That's not what happened.
What we actually found:
Our highest-billed developer was running 9+ hour active sessions every day. He wasn't slacking he was buried under dependency blocks nobody was escalating. We had two mid-level engineers with 55–60% idle rates who "seemed busy" in standups. And one team lead was context-switching between 28–35 different apps daily. No wonder sprints were slipping.
None of this was visible before. I was managing on gut feel and standup theater.
What changed operationally:
— Restructured standup to lead with blockers, not status updates
— Set focus windows 9:30am–12:30pm, no context switching enforced
— Used app categorization to block non-work URLs during core hours
— Started one-on-ones with actual data instead of vibes
Happy to answer technical questions — setup, Windows deployment, agent behavior, reporting quirks, whatever.
