Rental car issue

Hi! So last weekend, I rented a Suzuki Every (I don't know the year, but it's one of the more recent ones as it had mostly electronic stuff in it), Automatic Transmission (with that mode that allows you to also set the gear as if on a manual), I wasn't able to recall the mileage on it, unfortunately.

Anyway, onto my problem, the vehicle worked alright for most of the day, but when I went to give it back, about halfway through my trip, the vehicle lost most of its power. It was creeping along at its lowest possible speed, even with me flooring the accelerator. I wanna know if this could have been caused by something I did or if it was out of my control?
