Why he’s not telling people?

So my boyfriend of 8 years split mutually and maturely and we’re still good friends. We both agree on the spilt and ended things very well. But it’s now been 5 months since the spilt and he still has not told his friends or family. He even invited me to his family Easter dinner with his entire family. They all still don’t know that we spilt. I didn’t mind going to the dinner, his parents likes me and I get along with everyone. I don’t want to get back with him, I just want to stay friends, he thinks the same way. So why hasn’t he announce our spilt?
