New Anglia University Premedical Programme

Hi guys,

Currently finishing up my third term of the premed programme at New Anglia University and thought I’d share in case anyone’s looking into it 👀

I came straight from school (did IB), so I had to go through a foundation/premed programme before starting the MD. I was also looking at doing a traditional undergrad route, but this felt a bit more direct for me.

So the uni itself is based in Anguilla in the Caribbean, but the whole premed is actually fully online. You don’t have to go there at all for this part. It’s pretty structured — we’ve got classes Monday to Friday, 12:00–17:00 AST, so it’s basically like a midday schedule.

Content-wise it’s the usual premed core stuff — maths and sciences — but now in the third (final) term we’re getting into more interesting modules like Intro to Physiology and Microbiology, which actually start to feel more “med” rather than just foundation.

Honestly the teaching has been better than I expected. The lecturers are really professional and well-qualified, explain things clearly, and actually try to keep you engaged (not just reading off slides for 5 hours straight).

It’s also quite nice that everything is live and scheduled, so you stay in a routine rather than trying to figure things out on your own. One thing to keep in mind though is the schedule can be a bit tiring, especially doing 5 hours of classes consistently, so you do have to stay on top of it.

As long as you pass the premed, you progress straight into the MD programme, which was one of the main reasons I chose this route.

I’m actually heading to campus in May to start MD1, so happy to share how that transition goes as well.
