Will my hyperpigmentation fade without sunscreen ?
Hi y'all, I hope everyone's well. So I have normal acne prone skin on my face. Last year, I used multiple products trying to combat my acne and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
I had a very well arranged routine but I'd like to mention some of the products that i used overall; Cetaphil gentle cleanser (my first cleanser) then I switched to CeraVe foaming cleanser and Neutrogena hydro boost micellar water for a double cleanse as I was using Nivea sunscreen, I also sometimes used OXY face wash whenever my acne became too noticable. In addition, I used The Ordinary glycolic acid (2X a week), The ordinary niacinamide (2x a week), The ordinary alpha arbutin (3X a week), vitamin c serums from different brands (I used these during the day) and CeraVe moisturizing lotion.
So long story short, I was ALWAYS frustrated. I was still having breakouts every week and my hyperpigmentation was not getting any better. After 11 months of trying out different products, I decided to quite general skincare for a while. I told myself that I'd get back to it later when I'm financially stable.
So during this period, I started using Palm oil soap and CeraVe moisturizing lotion. Just these two products. Two months went by and then it just dawned on me that...I hadn't had a breakout in over 2 months !!! I also noticed that my skin looked soooo much better than it did when I was doing skincare. I was actually very perplexed.
So it's been 3 months now and of course I still have my PIH even though my skin still seems to be getting better...I can't afford sunscreen at the moment but I did some research and apparently hyperpigmentation can still fade without it because of skin cell turnover ? And since I'm no longer getting acne, it might hapoen ? I was just wondering how true this is and if anyone agrees...
