How does it work to change the POV from the protagonist to an alternative character in some specific chapters?
I am writing an adventure book which will consist of approximately 55 - 65 chapters. The POV is the protagonist obviously. It is not a first person narrative but I reflect things happening by his POV. Right before the climax of the events, I want to dedicate like 5 - 8 chapters on the antagonist and how he was prepared for the big event - things protagonist has no way of witnessing and explaining things from the antagonist's POV will have a huge impact on the story telling.
Also I want to give a few chapters (like 4 or 5) to some of the supporting characters' POVs throughout the story, right before they meet the protagonist or right after they say goodbye to each other, to focus on the events that, again, protagonist has no way of witnessing.
But I don't remember reading any book that changes the POV from one character to another for a chapter. Would that noticably look awkward?
PS. In case it is relevant, I have no intention of releasing the book to public, sell or anything. It is just a hobby but I like to write like I write it professionally as much as possible.
