Question on Insurance Excess

Hi, I had taken a car for test drive which got involved in accident. I was in the wrong so I got fined AED 500. Now the car company is asking me to pay for insurance excess of AED 750 + VAT.

Am I liable to pay for the insurance excess when the car is not registered under my name.
