Where human effort ends, Allah's help begins (Storytime)
Rainy Season, Aligarh. I am at my coaching centre, attending lectures. I look outside the window, the rain and storms are going crazy but I don't think much of it and just wait for the classes to get over. As soon as the bell rings, I quickly rush out of the classroom, out of the building. I don't have an umbrella nor are my friends present. Also NO rikshaw in sight.
I am on my way and see the footpath gradually getting flooded by the rainwater and sewers so I hop onto the road which is not any better. After jumping through enough open sewers and potholes, I reach the intersection (chauraha). The rain gets worse!
I have to take the path which is straight from the intersection BUT I see the entirety of the road flooded HEAVILY. So I look towards the road on my left which just goes straight with no shade whatsoever, then I look to the one on my right which is also flooded.
I stand in the corner of the road, helpless, looking at my phone for whom to call but I was just a hostler alone in that city and had no one to turn to for help.
Suddenly I hear someone, in a raincoat on a scooter, calling me out. It was one of my male classmate asking if I wanted help. YES, I really wanted help! But…I was not gonna sit on a scooter with a non-mehram even if there was a tsunami happening lol…kinda stupid of me but I just felt like it (I really trust my gut feelings). I thank him and decline. He understands and goes his way.
Now…I am already drenched and have nothing to lose, so, I lift up my abaya and start walking towards the road which goes to my hostel. I walk in the middle of the lane cuz the footpath has open sewers. I can already feel my legs sinking into the flood but I keep walking.
Not even half way there and my knees are submerged. The vehicles passing by me are creating waves, so, I am being disbalanced and can fall into the water at any moment.
I just mumble, "Ya Allah" and start laughing like a maniac cuz I am checkmated from all the sides at this point lol. Neither can I go back nor can I move forward. As I am being shook by the waves, I hear someone honk. I look back and it's an aunty in the backseat of a car telling me to get in. Without thinking much I open the door and *WHOOOOSH* the water enters the car before me.
I close the door, thank them and they drop me to my location safe and sound.
THE END_
