What's the masters of mathematical sciences like?

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries

Hey yall. I'm really interested next year in doing a masters in mathematical sciences here. I want to do a major in stats & stochastic processes, and I have an interest in computational modelling intelligent, cognitive and emergent systems. Basically cool shit ranging from artificial intelligence, deep learning, reinforcement learning, all the way across to computational cognitive science, artificial life & more.

What's the quality of the program? Research & industry prospects? How good is the coursework, is it taught well? Workload per semester? Is there opportunities to learn not just theory, but also, practical computational and numerical skills to train, optimise and run big models for HPC, GPU and cloud hardware?

Lastly, what's the overall student life like? Did my undergraduate in Brisbane and thought that the city was boring as f outside of west end & a few spots in the valley. lol
