Expensive hen party
Got added to a hen party chat. Maid of honour said she’d booked an air bnb for 4 nights in the UK. The house looked like a footballer’s mansion. It was going to cost nearly £1000 each! Me and a few other girls said privately that even if we could afford that, we don’t want to pay that much money. I spoke up and said I wish she’d said something before booking as I think it’s too much. She then with an attitude found a cheaper place (still £400 though!)
Anyway the bride rings me, she tries digging for information. She said she’s heard some girls aren’t happy with the price. I said I don’t feel comfortable talking about it if the maid of honour hasn’t. She then says well she went to Dublin for her maid of honours hen party, it’s like a holiday and if people can’t afford to go they just shouldn’t.
One of our friends recently bought an apartment by herself which obviously is a financial strain and also to take it on by yourself! The bride told me “she knows how expensive mortgages are and she doesn’t need to be that careful spending money the bank don’t care.”
At this point I’m really beginning to see a nasty attitude from my friend, it’s like the power has gone to her head!
Eventually the hen party roles around and she upsets all her bridesmaids at the hen party as she acts like a brat, she tells them the event they had planned is tacky and “they don’t know her at all.” She kicks off that they haven’t got her favourite alcohol in. They leave early on the last day. She kills the mood of the party but seems oblivious.
She rings me a few days later saying none of her bridesmaids are speaking to her, she said her finance is so worried about her that’s he’s not gone into work! I tell her it’s a lot of stress organising a hen party and maybe they need time to decompress, also they all have jobs.
What the hell turns women into these spoilt entitled brats where they’re happy to dispose of friendships because they don’t want to go to their expensive forced fun hen parties!? Bare in mind she didn’t pay a single dollar! We covered the cost for her.
