Just got my first Firefly guitar today! The Black FFFD. I have the Epiphone Artisan RD and comparing the two I was surprised that the body of the firefly is quite a bit smaller than the Epiphone. Maybe 1.5” or so narrower. It feels much more comfortable and less cumbersome so I actually think I prefer the smaller size.

The neck is a solid C-shape similar to a late 50’s Les Paul, but I wouldn’t describe it as a baseball bat. It isn’t obnoxiously wide either. I have small hands and it still feels very comfortable. The frets are actually all polished nicely and well leveled. I thought the headstock inlay was a nice touch too. My only complaint is that the finish under the top coat has a lot of small scratches, almost like it needed another coat before the finishing poly coat. It’s really only noticeable in bright light at an angle though.

I also have several Harley Benton guitars and honestly think that the build quality of this FFFD is on very comparable if not a little better build quality than those on average. Overall I’m very happy with this guitar and really excited to have a black RD-style! So impressed with my first Firefly that I went ahead and ordered a transparent brown FFTC today too.
