I (HLF 27F) want tips/advice on how to reverse DB with my boyfriend (LLM 27M)
Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some advice or perspective on my situation.
I’ve (HLF) been with my boyfriend (LLM) for about 1.5 years, and he is honestly an amazing partner. I truly see a future with him, and we align on so many important values and life goals.
The one area I’m struggling with is our sex life. We don’t have sex very often, usually about once a week at most, and sometimes less. Once we went 2 months without having sex. We don’t live together, so we typically see each other once during the week and then spend weekends together. Even then, it doesn’t happen as much as I’d hope.
I do try to initiate, but sometimes he brushes it off or turns it into a joke, which leaves me feeling a bit confused and discouraged.
For a while, I wondered if it had to do with my appearance. I’ve put effort into improving my health and confidence recently, including losing weight and focusing more on skincare. He’s been very reassuring and tells me he’s always found me attractive, but there hasn’t really been a change in our intimacy.
We’ve talked about it once, and he shared that he naturally has a lower libido than I do. He said he would try to be more intentional about it, but so far I haven’t seen much change.
I think what I’m struggling with most is that I don’t feel as desired as I would like in a romantic relationship. I really value feeling wanted and pursued, and I’ve realized that physical intimacy is important to me emotionally as well.
At the same time, everything else in our relationship feels really solid, which is why I feel so conflicted.
Has anyone been in a similar situation with mismatched libidos? Is this something that can realistically improve over time, or is it something I need to accept or make a decision about? I’d really appreciate any honest advice.
TLDR: Great relationship overall, but significant mismatch in libido. Looking for advice on whether this is something that can be worked through or a sign of long-term incompatibility.
