why would he bring up the weather, what does it likely mean?

I asked a guy who I've had some tense, somewhat confusing mixed signals with if he wanted to be friends in a text along with a few other topics and instead of him answering or addressing anything I said he mentioned the weather and weekend coming up?!.....what does this mean? just seems random and like he's avoiding the topic...
