DIY gel charms + nail glue?

Hi! I enjoy doing my nails at home with regular nail polish, but I'd like to start making DIY nail charms with solid builder nail gel. I don't want to risk a gel allergy by curing gel at home directly on my nails, so I'm thinking that I can make the charm first & cure fully, then stick it on my nail with nail glue.

Two questions:

1. Would this method work?

2. Would I need to flip the charm over to cure the bottom of the charm as well before gluing it to my nail? Or is gluing the top enough? (in the videos I've seen of people making charms, they seem to only cure the top)
