Roaming data speed and quality in Madrid?

Hi all, I am gonna visit Madrid in a few weeks and was hoping to buy a SIM somewhere other than the airport to save money. This will mean relying on roaming to get to my hotel and to use maps to find a phone shop. Has anyone experienced roaming in Madrid? Were there any issues using Google Maps or otherwise getting data for normal usage?

I remember in Canada once I couldn't call a rideshare using roaming so just want to make sure I am prepared for any issues in Spain.
