Hung-up on bond %
Rolled over my work 401k to Vanguard as I just turned 59 1/2. I wasn't a fan of all the bookkeeping fees and admin fees. Setting up positions and I'm stuck on bond %. Currently, I'm 80% equities, 11% bonds and 9% cash. The amount of bonds and cash will cover 3 years of living expenses. I'm 5 yrs away from retirement but work is pretty sketchy and I could be laid-off sooner with a decent severance. The "general" recommendation is for me to be 40% in bonds at my age but not sure I want to be that high if I have 3 years of expenses covered. Thoughts?
