Unpopular opinion about Zach Hamilton

Honestly, I found Zach to be extremely disturbed. I understand that's the character's objective, but it needs to be analyzed carefully. The guy acted impulsively and imposed completely disproportionate punishments on his father's lovers. He was even going to do something idiotic by killing his father. I understand he acted out of love for his mother, but that disproportionate way of acting... even though he killed his partner, who he claimed had killed a girl, I feel he wouldn't have lasted long satisfying that impulse. With that mentality, I doubt he could have been someone like Dexter. He could easily have become another Brian Moser. He doesn't have a trauma, but killing comes naturally to him.
