Taking care of a 5 year old and new born

My wife is set to give birth next week. This is our 2nd child and our first is 5 years old. With our first child it was a natural birth, but this time she’s having a c section.

I have two questions really.

How much harder is two than one? Anyone have this same age gap? My daughter is fairly independent but very emotional and I’m worried after the fun and excitement wears off she’s going have a hard time.

How can I help my wife since it seems like this will be a much harder recovery. I feel a bit dumb and not sure exactly how to plan to help. I can take care of the baby but I really don’t know what to expect for my wife.
