Weird fishing experience

Okay so my boyfriend had went fishing with his friends at this spot last night and he is not the brightest and they started whistling and saying “wendigo” then seconds later they hear a loud splash that starts coming towards them, so they grab their stuff and leave. Now tonight we come back to the same spot and get our stuff set up and get a fire started, immediately after we get the fire started it starts to get weird. First we hear the loud splashing again, ive been fishing my entire life and never heard fish splashing like this, it sounded nothing like a fish at all, it sounded like someone threw a large rock into the water. Then it starts moving down the bank on the opposite side of us. I initially thought it was a person trying to fuck with us but it started moving down the bank very quickly. Is this explainable or paranormal?
