Still new - how do I avoid waiting a long time for hand to customer orders?

Hey all. Been dashing about a week now so still trying to figure out the app and everything.

The other night I had an order to drop off at a Burger King to one of the employees there. The lobby was already closed because it was late, and the customer said they would come out when I arrived to hand to them. When I got there it was taking forever for them to come out, and it was a pretty low paying order. I only took it because it was such a short distance.

I see people on here saying we can start a timer and after a few minutes we just leave it somewhere safe with a picture and all that. I couldn’t figure out how to do that in the app to make sure I wouldn’t get any violations or anything so I ended up just waiting the few minutes…

So long story short - how do I handle a long wait time and just leaving it somewhere? Is there an actual timer to start, or is that just an unspoken thing we can do?
