Is it actually possible to make a living online in 2026 without a massive social media following? I’m 18 and starting out, but everything feels like a "hustle" marketing scheme.

I'm 18 and currently trying to build a small freelance service (optimizing resumes/CVs for IT people). I recently deleted my personal Instagram and Facebook because I hated the constant comparison and the "fake" lifestyle everyone shows.

But now I’m wondering: did I just sabotage my future?

Every "guru" says you need a personal brand and 100k followers to make real money. Living in Colombia, even a few hundred dollars a month is a total game-changer, but finding clients feels like shouting into a void without a "blue checkmark."

Is the 'online entrepreneur' dream actually real for normal people, or is it just a lottery for those who got lucky with the algorithm? How do you actually find clients in 2026 without selling your soul to TikTok?
