530 zipper flap

I've been eyeing getting a 530 in black. this would be my first leather jacket ever. I went in to the LA store to try it on and figure out sizing. I would say, I between a size small or medium.

The thing I noticed most was the zipper flap. When I tried to zip up the jacket, it seemed to get in the way of the zipping process. unzipped, it takes of a bit of visual real estate. Those that have a 530 or a jacket with a zipper flap, is this something that loosens over time

I've also taken a peek at the 554 and like that it doesn't have the zipper flap, but not a big fan of the lack of forearm leather gusset.
