Some employers are so out of touch with financial reality
I am more shocked than I am mad - and I honestly feel bad for MB. What makes me freak is just the sheer level of disconnection from reality on what it means for a 21 year old with medical needs to be averaging 800$ a month due to inconsistent scheduling. I was canceled on for the WHOLE WEEK this week. Recently I have been canceled on 1-2 days a week consistently. I simply cannot afford my basic fucking needs even renting out my boyfriends parents basement for 200$ a month. I try to negotiate 8-12 guaranteed hours as a last fucking resort to try to stay with this family because I adore NK and don't want MB to be running through nannys like crazy because I am very aware how low I am setting the bar. But holy shit. She wouldnt even agree to 8 guaranteed hours a week. She said our "needs and expectations are too far apart." Meanwhile, I own a 2013 Nissan Versa and live in boyfriends parents basement and have no savings, plus 4k in medical bills, and keep overdrafting my account. To paint the picture even better, hee house is worth AT LEAST 800k, she has 2 BRAND NEW CARS, the latest gadgets and brand name clothes, a fucking 150$ hairbrush, a fully stocked pantry and 2 fridges and freezers with the most expensive food at the grocery store, you see where I'm going here. I know I dodged a bullet but it simply blows my mind that these rich people cant comprehend that the way they are expecting their nannys to accommodate is unrealistic and would put an unlucky person on the street with nothing to eat. I'm just baffled but thankful for the honesty, I know for a fact that in 2-3 months time max shes going to be texting me asking me if I can come back and the answer is going to be no because I cant work for someone who doesn't even care about whether or not I can meet my basic needs and genuinley thinks they are entitled to an unrealistic amount of flexibility and shows no appreciation for it, acts like im asking too much by saying I need 8 GUARANTEED HOURS A WEEK. I simply cant. Oh my god.
